Please need to know someone can say it took them longer to play 18 holes than my personal worst of 5 and a half hours. it was a fourball and the course measured nearly 7000 yards. took 3 hours for the front 9 and we rushed the back 9 to come home in 2 and a half. Dont feel like playing again ever.

    When, and more importantly where?

PGA national. It was in good condition but placing everywhere. no roll either meant 160-200 yard approaches on almost all shots. Played with 3 other guys who had 20+ handicaps explains a bit but still cant believe it took so long. never come close to anything like that 5 and a half hours before. Guys behind were not exactly up our backsides either. Is it normal for that course.

Pretty much every round of every single gui championship is at least a 5 hour affair. And never a penalty imposed.

Over 6hrs in the European Club on a society captains day outing was out in first 4-ball and in front had a group of swedish people playin and they were looking for golf balls near enough every hole! Very nice people though talkin to them in the bar but to make it worse it was one of the hottest days of the year and was this colour coming down the 18th:mad: ! I won though so not too bad:D

oh god, 6 hours, you must have been famished mate!!!
More seriously though, it ruins golf when it is that slow, you lose your concentration, get frustrated, cranky, dont care about what kind of shots your hittin, just want to get home!
Two 20+ handicappers are going to be a big problem on a championship course like that though, looking at around 100 shots each, in a four ball you are looking at the bones of 400 shots!! 4 ball of low handicappers, maybe looking at under 300 shots, extra hundred shot going to take time!!
Courses like that should nearly put up handicap restrictions or make high handicappers play off forward tees (or ladies tee:eek:) Joke!!!
Check this out, 1st tee at bethpage black, venue for 2009 us open, not far off the mark!!
