Seems to be affecting everyone except me? Have had my fair shares of ups and downs - last few years were V. tough sine 2004(made redundant/relocated to new country/drank heavily/abortion to name but a few....) however am back home now - in a great job with good money, feel happy for once but everyone around me is down and out. I dont brag - thank my lucky angels. Its usually me who is down and out and everyone else telling to puck up - not its me giving people hope in times on trouble?
Should I just count my luckly stars and be grateful?

    Count those stars Iguana.

As you said, you've had your ups and downs and you never know when the sh*t is going to hit the fan for you next, for want of a more eloquent term.

For lots of people this is it, but you've so far been spared and that is a blessing that you shouldn't ruin by feeling guilty about it.

No need to feel guilty at all. However, if people who were better off helped you when you were going through tough times, then maybe you can do the same for others now and feel like you've contributed something back - may be good for you.

Your taxes OP are going to support a range of welfare schemes and it's likely you'll soon be paying even more. So keep doing what you're doing.

You mentioned your own personal issues and I'm sure there are dedicated charities for them. If some organization helped you in the past then maybe return the favour and now help them.
It doesn't have to money, it could be volunteering.

No need to feel guilty about anything though

At any point in time some people are doing well and some people are doing badly. Your perception that everone is being affected it just wrong as a point of fact. What has changed is that if you are doing well, now isnt the time to brag about about it

Don't feel guilty.I tend to think that you get out of life what you put in to it.Unfortunately at the moment we are all being dealt a raw deal due to a number of corrupt people. It's not our fault and we've just got to do what we can. Enjoy your situation, save your money, and don't feel bad, we are all just doing what we have to to get by!

Because you have been there, done that, bought the t-shirt you are more comfortable because you know you can survive regardless of the crap life throws at you. Lose the guilt - theres no reason for it. I friend of mine once said "I'm worried because I have nothing to worry about" - you seem to be afflicted with the same bug?
