I paid the vrt on a car I bought and then taxed it online. The tax disc arrived today but I need the log book to get NCT. I thought it would come with the tax. Where does it come from and how long does it take?

The VRC should come from the Department of the Environment in Shannon, it can take a couple of weeks.

Thanks, it says it is waiting to be issued.

Would the cops do me if I was driving the car with no NCT even though I am waiting for the reg cert in order to book the test.

Don't you have to get the NCT within a year of import rather than that right after?

Either way, if they could its highly unlikely they would - if they query the disc you just tell them its a new import and they're unlikely to push any further.
