Outdoor TV aerial and Coax cable

Anyone recommend a shop where I could by an outdoor wideband aerial and a reel of coax cable?

Might also need mast-head amp or distribution box.

Cheap and cheerful is what I'm after. The aerial will be in the attic so won't be subjected to the weather. Bog standard coax will do also. Not big into the concept of paying extra for perceived higher quality.

    Thanks

If you want not-always-so-cheap but cheerful, go for Maplin or try one of the DIY stores.

Honestly, don't skimp on cable. Go for satellite-grade cable, category WF100 (formerly CT100) or higher. Pointless otherwise.

If you want to receive the terrestrial channels from Maghera, you'll also need a VHF antenna for RTÉ One and Two (ch. 6 and 10). Will need a diplexer to combine the VHF and UHF antennae. It's very likely you'll also need a masthead on the UHF. Maplin definitely have masthead amps and power supplies.

Furthermore, wideband UHF antennae are the spawn of satan. Go for a C/D band UHF antenna (colour-coded green).

Can one combine two UHF antennae into one feed for the tv and does it require special equipment. I am near the Casla reply, so can get RTÉ1/RTÉ2/TG4 on UHF with an indoor aerial pointing there, but can also get a week TV3 in another direction, which i assume is Maghera, so was thinking to big UHF aerials in the attic would give me the terestials???

If your two UHF antennae are for two different bands, e.g. A and C/D, then you can use an A-E combiner for this.

Needless to say, the folks in the terrestrial form could rattle this off to you in their sleep!

pishhh, I need to know the location of where to buy these things in Galway City. Not specific advice on WHAT I should be buying.

Euronics N17 seem to have good quality coax in 40 meter lenghts for 29euro. Also have good quality 4 way passive splitter for 4.50.

Maplins is the only place I've seen an outdoor aerial at 25euro for an 18 element Wideband.

Woodies have coax on a reel at 89cent per meter.

There are Galwegians here too. They would know the shops best :)
Or where you can get it online.
