Can anyone help or have experience with the Vrt on a BMW 530D E39 1999?
    Mileage around the 100k mark

I was on the revenue site and got a figure and another figure from the seller and another from an owner of one. So any help with this would be great.

    Thanks

The revenue quote will be correct.

Be careful to check whether is it an SE or not, and put in the mileage that it will have when you VRT it.

Let me guess ..... the sellers figure was way less than revenues quote ?

    :D

There is about 700 euro in the difference but a guy who owns one said is around 2k more than revenue says. Could be an error on the site.

    Anyone on here have one?

Careful with that, afaik the figure from the website is based on the *basic* model. If its got any extras at all: alloys, leather interior etc. they whack on extra charges.

Well have alloys and leather. They dont always check though. Surely they couldnt add on mad money for those few bits?

This might be an SE v's Msport ?

Iv been doing some quotes on the 530d recently too. As always the OMSP is nuts -> VRT @ 36% IIRC on these cars.

I think for around that year you mention, it seems as good (price wise) to source an Irish one with some tax on it etc.

The savings are there alright for the e60 as we all know !!!

    Cut down on VRT
I have imported a jeep and was told directly, when i stated the omv was more than the jeep was available at that time in a garage advertised on carzone, that all i needed was a print out as proof and they would refund any overcharged vrt.

    Payments
Dont just use your bank to collect a draft as they will charge you 2-300 euro more in poor exchange rates which you may only discover in the last minute when its too late. call your bank, another bank and www.currency.ie ,you'll see a big difference.

    RAC
Try and push your car dealer to throw i an RAC test, normally costs £200 to the punter but much less for a dealer. It is an independent verification that the vehicle is sound.

...well, unless either of the other two people are offering to give you the VRT money, it doesn't matter what they say !!

Revenue will want their price, and you'll be the guy forking it out.

“And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, generates funds to the exchequer. You don't want to acknowledge that as truth because, deep down in places you don't talk about at the Green Party, you want me on that road, you need me on that road. We use words like freedom, enjoyment, sport and community. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent instilling those values in our families and loved ones. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the tax revenue and the very freedom to spend it that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”
