Hi guys. Yes its another one of these threads :p

I have a meeting with HR in work on Wednesday regarding the cycle to work scheme so I was hoping to have a rough idea of what bike to get before then.

What I'm basically looking for is something fast/reliable. Not pushed on fancy extras. It takes me 10 minutes to cycle to work so I'd be doing 20 mins cycling per day and I presume that means I don't have to go spending a fortune for a top of the range comfy road bike. I'd be looking to spend up to about £600 from somewhere like wiggle or chainreactions.

If anyone has any recommendations I'd really appreciate it as I've honestly no idea what I should be looking for. I'm about 5ft 10 btw and not really sure what size frame I'd need. I can get the oul measuring tape out tonight if anyone needs more info to ensure I get the right bike

    Thanks :)

    Hi there,

    How lazy are you?

If you're the type that might pedal whilst going downhill (which I'm using as a lazy proxy for someone being more concerned with efficiency, weight etc.), then there's some excellent information here: http://wiki.boards.ie/wiki/Buying_a_bicycle

If, however, you're like me, and are slightly more ambling, happy to freewheel merrily down hills, you might be interested in a thread I started a good while back: http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055108452

Whatever type you are, hope the meeting with HR goes well and you get your hands on a shiny set of two wheels soon!

Great post Thomas, don't suppose you want to stick it into the wiki to expand that buying a bicycle section?

Does a Lapierre RCR 100 for €495 sound like good value, or a tad expensive?
