Probelms with Dell Optiplex DVD drive in XP

    Hello all.

I have a problem with a TSST (Samsung) drive in a 2007 Dell Optiplex 745 PC. The drive is recognised in the Bios, and lights, etc come on when you load a CD, but XP givea a Code 41 error, calaiming it has installed the drivers for the Drive, but that it is not connected.

No joy with Dell (even though I have 3-year extended business warranty). They told me to restore the OS, but I was only supplied with a Utilities and Drivers disk, though they claim otherwise. So I'm in a bit of a pickle, and will have to buy a new drive to resolve this (hopefully).

All help will be much appreciated.:)

    Regards,

    Freddie.

    Update on this:

After contacting Dell for a third time, this technician had it rectified in minutes. He deleted some upper and lower filter registry entries and voila - problem solved. Without scrubbing the machine.:)
