Two questions elec. cars

Have two questions, what are the good and bad points of electric cars, how do they drive as well, do they use gears or is it just a matter or putting your foot down (oh can't get a grasp of driving a car with gears even after years of lessons).

Also have an Opel Corsa Viva and have someone already interested in it but not sure how much to ask for it.

    It's a 1999 viva hatchback, black, 95473 miles NCT 11/09
1.2 litre Cd player, power steering all in all in general good condition throughout.

Have no idea how much to ask for it esp. as the mileage seems to be higher than some of the same cars of that year.

    Any ideas?

GPR--I was offered a franchise in these elec things a while back but after looking at it(and reading the ridicule the regulars here :) ) I decided against it.

Main issues were range, safety and price.
Safety:These things arent technically classed as cars and therfore dont need to undergo NCAP testing(as far as I can remember).

Range:Range was limited at the time to 40-60km between charges which can be as much as 8 hours. Now the range is up to 80 on normal batteries and 120+ on lithium between charges and the charging time is supposedly 2 hours on a fast charge cycle.
Dun Laoire county council put in a few charging stations on the pier for these "cars" and if there were more around the city it would be worth considering.

Price wise I feel that they are quite expensive at 10k + the battery upgrade to make it worthwhile.
    Hope this helps,
    Richie.
