Question for the girls

I started running a few months ago, enjoying it and making (slow) progress, but now I need to to get a new sports bra. I've lost a bit of weight, so I'm not even sure of my size any more, and therefore I'm looking for a shop with a decent selection and good measuring advice.

Any suggestions where to go in Dublin?

arnotts are the best at measuring (la senza also measure but have gotten dodgy results there, ditto M&S). They don't have a great range to try though. I mostly wear shock absorbers (level 4). Figleaves.ie do a lot of types of sports bras and less bounce is a great place to look. Lots of people swear by enell but I've never really gotten on with them.

Thanks for the very quick reply, Hunnymonster! I will probably try Arnotts then :)

HM, sorry but I'll have to disagree there, I think shock absorbers are absolute rubbish. You'll have two black eyes within minutes of using them if you're not an a cup.

lessbounce.co.uk have a great selection. I use the moving comfort Fiona model. The only fitting tip is if you're a 34C then get a 32C, i.e. go a size down for your rib cage measurement. I've five of them and think they're great.

Bought an enell before but unless you're very generously endowed I'd steer clear, they're very restrictive. That said, for friends who are size FF and G and thought they'd never find a decent sports bra for their size they're a god sent.

I agree about shock absorbers being rubbish. I use the M&S maximum support ones and think they're great, much better than the shock absorbers anyway.

I wear the same ones. I think I actually need to get a couple of new ones, I've lost a lot of weight through running over the last few months and they're just not holding me in like they used to!

I was a little biased in my original choice of these though, as my mother works for M&S so she was able to get them cheap for me :)

    Thanks for all the suggestions!

I've heard very conflicting stories about the shockabsorbers as well, I suppose it is very personal.

I'd agree there. I'm not a huge fan of the Shock Absorbers, I never really found them comfortable and always found the sizing to be slightly off (for example, not being able to fit into a level 4 Shock Absorber in my normal back size with the cup 1 size above normal). However, others swear by them.

To answer Tantipie's question - I keep it simple and wear basic Penneys stuff! Again, that probably won't work for everyone, but c'est la vie.

Would have to agree with HM, commando the only way to go.

Otherwise you're just introducing another layer to chaff/fall down.

If you're wearing running tights you definitely don't need any, same for tri shorts.

If you're wearing proper running shorts(once you've worn a pair you'll never go back, they're SOOOO comfortable) they've built-in knickers so you definitely don't need underwear.
