Good destinations in July?

Myself and OH heading are planning a week away in July. Looking for somewhere sunny, nice beaches, activities, not overrun with 18-30 lager louts (though we're mid 20's!) but with a fairly decent nightlife. We don't drive either so renting a car to travel around is not an option. Thinking between Greece/Spain/Portigal/Croatia but not sure on specific destinations. Any suggestions very welcome!!

    Cheers all.

the canary/greek/balearic islands and the algarve will be full of british lager louts in july

Cote de Azur is an option to get away from all that, on the expensive side (pints are 7 euro in nice old town e.g) but there is plenty to see and do in that area, cannes has a lovely beach, monaco is worth a day, saint tropez is nice. public transport is excellent and the cheapest i have come across in western europe, its something like 1.50 euro for the 30 minutes from nice to monaco, you can stop off at eze for a few hours if you like too

Wow, talk about a generalisation! Do you also wear a tin foil hat?

The trick is to go a bit off the beaten track, for example, Majorca is lovely, if you steer clear of Magaluf, or one of the smaller resorts on Crete for example. There are scores of Greek islands that have an older clientelle, such as Skopelos or Skiathos. Cyprus is also a very nice island, look for a hotel in the Paphos area and it should be fairly quiet but with a bit of life.

You might want to try and get away early July as well, the English schools don't break up until the second week of July and it might be a bit cheaper then.

all across the med there are islands with noisy bits and quieter parts, If you are booking with Falcon or someone there will be a resort guide on the website that will tell you what the area is like.

myself and the OH went to Puerto Rico in the canaries last July. €500 each for 7 days with Budget travel, althought we booked last minuite, it was still a brilliant price!

we stayed in the Playa Revoli, and we loved it so much we're goin back this year.

We're not big drinkers, so we just went to an Irish bar in the evenings and listened to some music.

there is good night life there, but its not in your face at all
