Dont warm up your balls !!!

Reading Golf magazine yesterday. Rules Guy says you cannot warm your balls using the chemical heat sachets. Has long been my habit in winter golf to use them - especially in ones like the present frosty one. Keep one in each pocket to both keep hand warm and to help keep hands/gloves dry. But also put the ball into pocket between holes, when marked on green etc. And would have taken car to ensure it was in contact with the sachet to warm it up.

Upshot - Now faced with trying to get over 20 years of hampers, turkey prizes returned, find correct winners to get the prizes to them, inform past winterleague colleagues of my and their disqualification, correct league tables, recover prizes from said colleagues etc. Nightmare.

Moral of the story : If its freezing : let your balls freeze too.

Question : Are trouser pockets an artificial aid also : even without a heat sachet they provide a thermal barrier between your skin and the cold air - assisting the ball to heat up when placed in your pocket. Does one have to place the ball in a caddy car handle ball holder so that it is fully exposed to the ambient temperature?

No. Skin, clothes, bag etc are not considered artificial devices. Also, it is allowable to use artificial devices to warm up your balls before use in a round (I know, SO many double entendres, so many!!!).
