Parnell park is not too far away, it is cheap enough in, support them. The last time the Dubs played them there they destroyed them in a heroic performance.

If you mean the Dublin footballers I'm not sure, head to Parnell and support the small ball:)

Dublin are playing Galway in the football in Pearse stadium, I know. But they are playing Galway in the hurling in Parnell Park. That is what I said, you should watch the hurlers, they are pretty good.

Man, he just asked a simple question. Unfortunately, a lot of Dublin supporters have no interest in hurling and there's nothing you can really do about it.

OP, to answer your question, TG4 are showing deferred coverage of the game tomorrow afternoon after the Tyrone-Kerry game.

The third most wogious day for Dublin Football in a year.

    They were completely crap today

As expected today, we won one and we lost one. We just expected it to be the other way around. It is a bit the same with our results after two matches for our teams.

Really enjoyed the Hurling today, even Parnell Park wasnt cold. Thats four poitns in the league now!!!!

Edit: just seen the football score, wtf?

Hurlers are coming along nicely. Fair to say that's two of their 'easier' games out of the way?

Footballers. More questions than answers. Looked poor today all over. Ger Brennan does not look like he is up to it at centre-half back, poor distribution of the ball going forward and lacks a commanding presence. Cullen continues to be wasted at wing half-back. The half-forward line is non-existent. Length of time it takes for the ball to get into the forwards is very frustrating. The million hand-passes inside your own half is something I don't understand.

If we are going to persist with Brennan at centre-half back I think it would be nice to see Cullen moved to the half forward line.

Ah once ye Dubs leave the comfy confines of Croke and Parnell park the whole thing seems to fall apart.

I still can't get my head around the hurling score though. I know the Portumna players would've been missing from the squad because of club commitments, but surely they still should've had enough in the bag? But 13 points isn't a loss, thats a demolition.

    A pretty baffling score alright:eek:

One could argue Galway's second team is worse than Cork's third/fourth team;)

Take Joe Canning out of that side and they have very little. Cork would have beat them by a similar amount last year if it wasn't for Canning's heroics.

I would not say that, before the league started I thought Limerick and Clare would be the games we would target to win. Also if we beat the Deise, assuming the Deise that played Tipp turn up we could get 5 wins from 7 and a spot in the final:D:D:D

Typical that all the focus falls on Galway's poor performance rather than a good display from the Dubs. The team seems to have learnt from last weekend's wastefulness against Cork and were clinical with their finishing today.

    Long may it continue!

Dublin have been coming good for some time now, they beat Galway in the league in recent times as well as some very near misses in the championship against Wexford, coupled with their underage performances over the last few years and a knowledgeable manager in Daly it's easier to see how they won. There's a lot of postives from Dublin, its not just down to negatives from a Galway point of view.

I dont think the result would be repeated in the championship per se, but it looks like Leinster will be a lot more interesting this year, and not just cause Galway and Antrim are in it!

    Fair dues to the Dubs

Reason I say that is because both Cork and Galway have fielded understrength teams. Can someone post the remaining fixtures or link for me please. God help me but I can't navigate the GAA site for love nor money.

Very disappointed with the footballers today. How we conceded 3 goals is criminal to ourselves. The referree gave a terrible decision for the penalty and we just seemed to drop the head after that.Cullen was non existent. You swear he hadn't played much since August.Full back continues to be a problem.I always had my suspicions about Bastick as he is prone to give away a lot of frees etc but my main concern is Cluxton.I think this guy is going down the slippery slope and is a liability to Dublin now.He has cost us so many games in the last 2 years against Kerry,Tyrone and today in Galway.

I think Michael Savage has to get his go after Cluxtons messy kickouts and suspect goalkeeping today.

As for our hurlers, what can I say?Great perfomance.Serious improvement from last week.I am delighted our hurlers trounced Galway after our atrocious showing against them in the football.I think a Leinster Final may be on the cards this year if Dublin can maintain the improvements and excel. We have beaten the likes the Antrim,Galway and Offaly in very recent times and gave Wexford the games of their lives last year. With Wexford playing in a less competitive division, they will suffer.

I hated watching the filthy antics of the 2 Galway players for intentionally trying to hurt their opponents.Yound Rushe is a god send to the Dublin team and with McCrabbe back on side,we can only get better.

Bitter sweet day for Galway and Dublin GAA. I'm in awe of the Dublin hurlers. Maybe Leinster will go down to the wire this year.

    Keaney is a beast btw.

    RE: Hurling

Galway weren't that much understrength, we were missing a few but this was by no means a Galway second string. There was as many as 10 players who would expect to start in the championship so from a Galway perspective it's a terrible result, and that's no disrespect to Dublin (who to be fair have been threatening a result like this for a while now). It will be interesting to see if Dublin can continue this form, I wasn't at the game yesterday but I've heard Galway were atrocious so Dublin will surely face stiffer tests. Galway had previously put in a very decent display against a pretty strong Kilkenny lineup in the Walsh Cup so I'm hoping this performance was too bad to be true.

    RE: Football

Very pleased with this. The movement of our forwards in the first half was superb at times and with Nicky Joyce to come back in aswell there's serious scoring power there. Sammon has them playing good stuff and there are reasons to be optimistic even if it is early days. From Dublin's side of things it was a poor display but they're a work in progress under new management so I wouldn't read too much into it if I was a Dublin supporter, except for the fact that the defence is as leaky as ever (Galway could have had a couple more goals) and that's something Gilroy simply must fix if Dublin are to have any chance of winning the All-Ireland in the next couple of years.

I get tired of the patronising attitude towards dublin hurling from posters on this site. Yes we won by 12 pts. Its not our fault galway were poor but we did play well considering we struggled to overcome Cork last week.

I am amused at the reaction to the result by some well informed posters on this site. If you know your hurling you should know theres been a massive investment in hurling in dublin over the last 10 years and its slowly bearing fruition.

I certainly think its needed an outsider like Anthony Daly to harness the talent and bring us to the next level. Yesterday was a good day and i am sure we will have bad days along the way but i think we are heading in the right direction.

I was at the football in Galway yesterday and i think we are way off the pace and i think some lads need to be dropped after yesterdays poor showing and we are leaking some hefty scores too.

Dublin hurlers need to make a Break through soon though. Blew it against Wexford last year after ye played them off the field for most of the match.

Daly could be great for ye and it gets him off the Sunday game at least:p

I am well aware a break through has to come and yes we were very naieve against wexford last year but we were missing some of our better plays last year lads like liam ryan and alan mccrabbe were not on the panel. I believe Daly is giving them the little bit of belief thats needed too. Next stop Limerick who are going well too.

I'd also agree with Mullet.I too get annoyed when our hurlers aren't given enough credit for their wins. This team has been continuously improving and it should be no shock if we win against some bigger teams. No longer are we top of the second tier,we are in the mix with the top tier.

This Dublin team has been building in the last 3-4 years especially. We had a good manager from Scoil Ui Chonaill,Tommy Naughton, who provided Daly with a good base to progress with.Daly will iron out some problems that have held us back in recent times.

I do notice myself within Dublin GAA circles that hurling is growing in popularity to the point where it is catching up and may overtake football in popularity in the next few years, especially if trends continue.

Will the day ever come though when the hill is packed with Dubs for a Hurling match??? I would love to see it and it would be great for hurling too but whether or not it will ever happen is another story.

What's going on with Gilroy? 2 defeats on the trot. Are we staring at a possible disaster in the summer with a Steve Staunton-like gaffer at the helm?

Over react much?? Firstly its the league in Frebruary certainly no championships won or lost here and secondly Dublin have been beaten by firstly the Allireland champions and secondly by a very impressive (serious contenders for sam btw) Galway team in pearse stadium, which of these two games did you expect to win?? The only similarity i see between gilroy and stan is an over expectant fan base with unrealistic ambitions.

I think some people got carried away after the encouraging performance against Tyrone in Croker. After 2 defeats from 2, survival in NFL1 should be the name of the game.

What we've also got to take into account is the players that we're currently missing who'll be definite first team starters come the Championship - Alan Brogan, Paul Griffin, Vaughan (possibly), Paul Brogan and Collie Moran.

Still think we're going to fall short this year but Leinster once again should be there for the taking.

The Chessplayer, give Giller a chance. He's done one thing right so far by selecting Bastick at FB now he needs to sort out both the HB and HF lines.

Hopefully. If we can maintain a good run in the League, the Dublin v Antrim and Dublin v Meath double header in Croke Park on June 7th will be interesting in terms of the crowd that are in for the opening fixture.

Regarding the The championship game against antrim. The hill will only be half full as has been said already alot of the muppets will still be in the pubs. Gutted i will be away that weekend.

A work colleague told me of a story of kids on her street at the weekend who were out not playing soccer but hurling and they were arguing about who would be Smiley Reilly and McCrabble. A sign of the times.

Genuine hurling people would love to see Dublin make the big breakthrough by winning a Leinster and make top level hurling more competitive. This is the first Galway match I have missed all year and I cannot judge the performance of either team on the day as I haven't seen the match. Kilkenny beat Dublin by 6 goals in the Walsh cup and Galway took them to extra-time in the final so that's what makes this result strange to me. Galway seemed to be going grand in the Walsh cup and maybe solving some of the problem areas. Our main problem is inconsistency. The last decent game we have seen from a Galway team in championship is probably 2005. Last year against Cork, without Canning they would have been disgraced. Nobody is denying Dublin hurling is making progress. It is, but Sundays result is like jumping from 40 on that progress chart to 80. I know the new Galway full-back has a reputation for this kind of stuff on the club scene at home and maybe he is better off left off the panel if this is his method of fixing our full-back problem.

Dublin have been given credit, but remember they still haven't achieved a notable result in the championship and until they do they will not be accepted as a 'top tier' team. Beating Galway by 12 pts in Feb is well and good but do you think they could repeat that result in June/July? Maybe but I have my reservations, even allowing for Galway's unpredictability. Dublin have certainly made good progress in recent years and it's good to see the emergence of (potentially) a new force on the scene, but Dublin must translate this progress into something meaningful at champiosnhip level.
