............before he gets in the ring!

"WBO/IBF lightweight champion Nate Campbell initially weighed in at 138 lbs. for Saturday’s bout against Ali Funeka. He was given two hours to lose 3 lbs., but arrived back at the scale slightly after the two hours had expired. Campbell weighed 137.5 upon his return, and thus loses both titles. The bout will still take place, and if Funeka wins, he will claim the vacant title. Funeka weighed in 133.5 on the first try. Ironically, Campbell’s previous fight with Joan Guzman was cancelled when Guzman didn’t make weight."

Its like handing Khan the chump a belt FFS!!!

    ????????????

What the hell has that got to do with Khan ?

If you're suggesting that Funeka is going to be an easy touch, you don't know much about the South African. I fancied him (not strongly) to win an upset here. He's 6 foot tall, a good boxer and a serious puncher. Not exactly the sort of opponent you'd fancy Khan would easily beat.

Something tells me the fight will go ahead - Campbell will win - that leaves the titles vacant - Khan beats an aging Barrera - Frank lines Khan up with a chump for a shot at the Warren Boxing Organisation (WBO) belt

I haven't bothered studying the Raheem v Funeka fight, but it is worth noting Funeka only won a missed decision over Yakabu Amidu. A fighter that Ricky Burns took care of quite easily.

Amidu also only drew with George Ashie, who's okay at Commonwealth level but noting special and as such even if Amidu was a bad style for Funeka it's a worrying sign.

Funeka also has a loss to Mzonke Fana, Fana can be decent on a good night but it's another bad sign for Funeka, Even if he has improved tremendously since.

I should probably go watch Funeka now.

I wouldnt be surprised if the fight goes ahead, Cambell wins and Kahn-Barrera becomes a title fight for the wbo.
Considering Macarenelli was due to face the number 15 wbo contender at light heavy for the vacant wbo cruiserweight belt

Barerra is number one, Kahn is number 9. Dont be surprised if this becomes for the title. Alex Arthur enters the wbo lightweight rankings at number 13 so if Khan-Barrera isnt for a belt then the winner vs Arthur could well be.

Khan would become "interim" champion possibly,.... not quite the same thing.

    What's a "missed decision"?
