    Hi

Im probably just about to buy 1 or maybe 2 tvs. Having had a JVC 32" monster which has served me faithfully for nearly 10 years, its time to go for something new. Is this good value / quality... a Panasonic 42" Plasma special offer in Expert stores for €699 ? I think its viera, maybe th42pv80.

Then for a smaller room Im looking at a 32", either Philips 32 PFL 3403 at €470 or Toshiba 32AV500PG at €499. The salesman recommended the Toshiba.

Whats the sound like on these? Im not too fussed about connecting to external speakers so if the sound was decent Id be quite happy with it. My sister has a JVC LCD and I actually think the onboard sound is excellent, you can actually hear the stereo/surround in movies etc.

Finally what should I do with my old JVC 32"? Working perfectly. Would I get €100 for it or just give it to the store to take away...??!

    many thanks

    h

I think 699e is a pretty good shop price for a 42pv80. Thats a good tv alright. No worries with that choice.

As for that 32" choice, go to a few more places. I'd take this over that philips or toshiba. That series 4 samsung should be in all stores for around that price.

If you want to get rid of the JVC, throw it up on adverts.ie. You'll make a few bob for it anyway.

    Thanks for that.

I've just seen this on Pixmania

    SAMSUNG PS42A456 Plasma Screen

    for €607

Thats nearly 100 cheaper than the Panasonic. Is the Panasonic a better set though? I would have imagined so but dont know really.

If theres nothing between them, would I be better off getting the Panasonic anyway as its local, and theyll deliver and set up for €20?

    thanks

Sammy Plasma's have never had a good rep.

Definitely get the panasonic. Its worth the extra outlay, for sure. The panasonic would be more reliable, better built, have better blacks and be more resistant to screen burn. No case for the samsung

Thanks folks. Was sort of leaning that way myself!

All I want now is to get Sky+ at a decent price as existing customer. 200 installed right now they want. Then my 32" for the living/kitchen area, move the old Sky box out there, use the English epg (ie card in upside down) and with my DVD recorder there and Sky+ with the 42" I can then record every channel I might need, albeit in different rooms!

    Thanks again!
