Feel Lost

My girlfriend broke up with me 8 months ago after 4 years. I know in my heart and soul that it had to happen and I really wasn't in love with her any more even though I loved her as a person, so I shouldn't be too put out by it but I find myself thinking about her a lot. I have had no contact with her (which I'm sure is for the best), but the last couple of months have been difficult. I have a few very good friends but they're all married off, I;ve a good job where I get on very well with people but when i go out I completely freeze (shy) when I meet new people. I need something to change in my life to help me start enjoying things again, it feels like I'm only passing time until Monday and work starts again. Anyone feel the same??

You're right in the lack of self belief .. which shouldn't be the case cos in my relationships at work I'm very confident but it doesn't seem to work that way in my personal relationships. I think I made her finish it though as I didn't want to do it, I know it probably sounds stupid but I didn't want to hurt her but was prepared to get hurt

well ya see in work, people have their guard down, because its work right? wher as, in a nightclubs people have their guard up particulary girls.

might sound weird...but get some exercise.
I'm in a similar enough situation as yourself - exercise gets the old endorphines goin. Get a hair cut, and buy a new jumper.
Sounds a bit crap - but try it. If it doesnt work youll be left with a cool jumper, a decent haircut and something to do mid-week. :)

    Good luck dude

You're probably right about the 'guard' being down in work, hadn't really loooked at it that way.

Good idea! From the sounds of it, you aren't really doing anything that you enjoy outside of work. Maybe look into joining a club or team. You'd get to meet more people and there's no pressure like in a bar /club.
