hard drive not recognised

    Hi guys,
    I installed a ide hard drive on my pc and the cables and power supply are fine. its not in my computer.when i go into device manager it shows up under disk drives but has at @ symbol name to it. but when i go to disk management its not there. any ideas how to get it recognised. any help much appreciated.

    Bit of info on your O/S and system spec would be helpful. Did you buy the HDD new? did it come with a disk. Or, is the HDD a old one you had lying around?

    It could be a simple matter of setting the drive jumpers to slave. Also, is the drive recognised in the bios?
