Nice shots. Can you tell me the lenses you used for those close ups. Any other tips/suggestions also appreciated. Thanks.

Nice set Janer. #3 and #4 are my favourites.

#1 Nice composition and DOF. Not sure if its my monitor or my eyes, but looks a little off focus (just not extremely sharp), also think a touch more contrast maybe.

#2 Nice DOF again, i ike the blue coming out in the wall, but overall it doesnt do too much for me.

#3 Very sharp indeed. Lovely colours on the head. Did you try to put a vignette on this? Its darker on the left (looks to me like you put a vignette on the pic, but then cropped after and now the vignette is only on the one side - you can use "vignette after crop" in lightroom if this is the case)

#4 Really lovely shot. Really like the conversion. I bet the original is all GREEN and messy. The conversion really makes it. Sharp, nice DOF, and i like the contrasting dark foeground.

#5 I think its probably the weakest pic. It looks washed out to me. I guess you were trying to show the cool texture and colour of the wall, but i dont think it works too well in this composition. Maybe just a straight forward shot/macro of the wall itself without the background would be better.

Good job. I need to get out myself more often. It seems everytime i motivate myself to get out, the weather is bad, and those days that im really lazy turn out to be nice sunny days.

Hope you appreciate the C&C, even if you didnt ask for it :)

For the close ups I used the Canon 100-400L...
    Tips...practice practice practice!

#1 I used spot metering on the eye so that will be sharper than the rest of him, on my monitor his eye looks very good and sharp!
#2 These types of pics are not to everyones taste I know, I love the sharp bit of the brickwork/wall.
#3 No vignette used but the pond wall shadow made that side darker on the Duck.
#4 Half right, it's not that it was messy but the Squirrel looked lost in all the green and he was too far away to do a tight crop without losing sharpness.
    #5 Would agree with you.

Here is an alternative version I was going to use but when I checked it later I seen the sun on the right caused burnout.

Here are 3 other shots of the Robin but they too are spot metered, doubt I'll never get a more willing model then this guy as he flew to a perfect spot for me.

I used Robin II for the thread, would be interested in your verdict on which I should've used or what faults/pluses in them...

Just checked my Pixie and the masses appear to backing me up on Robin II as well!

I like all 3 of the robin shots actually. hard to pick a winner, but i guess i would choose #2. Looks a lot sharper to me on pix.ie for some reason, maybe its the black background. Or the fact that ive been looking at the screen all day!

I rather the shot of the rock by itself, it becomes the main attraction and the closer-up shot shows off the texture and colour a bit more. There is burnout in the corners though as you said. You could have used a flash maybe?

Robin shot is superb, duck shot could be sharper and looking at the exif I can see why its not. The Squirell shot is really nice too

This because my Shutterspeed was 1/125 only? Was handheld shots but I thought the IS might have covered me, the main problem I had with that pond was having to use diff settings for each wee bit, between tree/wall of the pond shadows and what not it was not easy to get a good exposure and hence I kept fiddling the 'lazy' way, ie: just moving the shutterspeed rather than recompose....
Maybe I should have used TV instead of Manual for the tricky situations...

Def worth a visit back down to that part of the park though....
Also if I had've had a tripod with me and been patient there were some fab shots of the Ducks rearing their wings or 'ass diving' into the pool.

nice set, sponge rock still isn't doing it, but like the other 4. Robin is a quality shot.
