Monday nights in Karma are pretty decent.
Thursday night is best for CP's.
    Wednesday, Cuba.
    Tuesday, can't be arsed really.

and Friday is the return to civilisation...:D

I haven't been to RAG week in a few years...

Do you have to have college ID to enter nightclubs during RAG week?

    How typical is this:

I'm a first year.. and it's my first rag week ever..

and I get mumps (off some retard in my class) :(

Luckily, I don't get to miss it all. I'll be up wednesday morn. I'm absoloutely drinking on the bus on the way up.

But for now.. I just get to sit at home. Woooooo... :(

Ah, don't worry about it... It's probably all overrated :P

I'm a first year as well, not feeling too bothered about the whole thing, but maybe that's just me...

First year RAG week is by far the best. I was at a couple of rag weeks before I went to college, but my first as a student was nuts! The following year was good even though I was out of college and then when I went back to college it was ok but nothing special. Last year was ok'ish, but im still paying a visit this year from wednesday to friday. Gotta be better than the sh1te in sligo last week!

2 people died apparently.People nearly drowned jumping off the quincentennial drunk.College is not recognising rag week anymore.Non-students think we are scum and we made the RTE news too.

All in all, a good rag week

Nah, not really, we are scum. I hope those who got arrested get a warning from NUIG about their behaviour.

What difference would it make if the college 'cancels' RAG Week? Everything they organise is totally ****e anyway, some nobhead DJ in the college bar and some crap local bands. Woop de do, oh wait there's always the chance to take part in a triathalon or 5-a-side during the biggest piss up of the year:rolleyes:

All it takes is one person to spread the word on Bebo or whatever, students rag week starting 22nd Feb 2010, and it will happen. Probably be messier than an official one too.

Not if NUIG cleverly made all their assignments due that week. It could work.

As a class rep, I should probably let ye all know, the college has nothing to do with the organisation, it's all done by the SU.

Also 40 of us student-lot got arrested (myself not included) on Wednesday night I believe and then released the next day. In my opinion, it's just gotten completely out of hand. I mean, Jesus Christ, 2 people dead (unconfirmed as far as I know) for what? Getting absolutely pissed off their tits and acting like idiots. Now I'm no anti-drinking nazi (I have been known to down the occassional double vodka or three), but I'd just love to see some common sense employed during times like RAG Week, you know?

It just doesn't make life any easier on the population of those who don't get twisted 4 nights a week to have to live with the dubious moniker of 'students' accompanied by a disdainful rolling of the eyes.

WTF....where did you hear that rumour?

UL student myself (can't wait for our rag week at the end of march), was up in Galway thursday night and while it was a bit rough at times it was one of the best nights I had in a long time.

Roisin Dubhs was such a laugh.

fellow students also think you are scum.

some departments do that already, i had a midterm during rag week before. it makes absolutely no difference.

hearing from friends and family about what happened during the week, have to say the difference between Trinity's ragweek and NUIGs is astounding, the SU really go all as regards organizing activites and there generally seems to be much more craic without the ****e all round.

Frankly i think the only way to deal with it is to disband the SU after this, they are a complete and total farce.

Well I do agree they are a farce, but disbanding them is a bit much. Something does have to be done though.

I seen a car with its windows smashed in, its mirror's broken off and the body dented down by the cathedral, i couldn't believe students would do something like that! I thought them kinds of acts were refined to the travelling community!
I do feel though that Cuba and GPO nightclubs should take their fare share of the blame seen as their daytime foam parties enticed students to start drinking early in the day leading them to be be absolutely off their tits by nitetime.

To be honest some people are just compleate retards, i mean the average 1st year is 18-19, on average has been drinking sense around age of 16(being generous here, prob much younger), at this stage it should be pretty much impossible to accidently get drunk.

i have friends, and i use the term lightly, that are 22-24 and they get off their face every night they go out, always end up knocking over bins getting in fights breaking bottles, compleate tools, you cant really blame the pubs or clubs, though it is easy to do so. free will, self control, brain cells, these should be the factor affecting how stupidly drunk people get,

have gotten **** faced before, but not often, and never a few days in a row. People need to take responsibility for their actions, and there should be laws into punish people who break them.

Ps my bike was stolen over rag week, BASTARDS

Im in TCD and went down to RAG week in Galway. It was anarachy like totally crazy stuff. Eyre Square was a war zone. RAG week will still live on unofficially but to be honest it was a disgrace and something had to be done. At the end of the day it was the non student population that had to deal with the brunt of the **** going on.
