BMW have completely lost the plot. This makes the X6 look good...

    Toyota Prius anyone?

That looks like a double hinge system like on the new Skoda superb. . If not, bad idea but the car still looks nice.

Like the beta one too. :)

"BMWBlog, who broke the story, say that the car is a similar length to the new 7 Series long wheelbase, making it the largest BMW and quite possibly one of the largest cars on the road. "

One thing I can't understand is that for such a big car how is it that it can only seat 4?

The interior looks like something from the stationwagon in National Lampoon's vacation!

I don't think it's too bad. Granted it is a bit CLS me too as we've seen in several other cars recently. Hate the bling wheels. Was gonna say big mistake, the bootlid until I saw the double action like the Skoda Octavia. The hatchback will add hugely to the practicality of the car. And I like the reclining rear seats

Too feminine looking for a BMW though...

There is only one thing wrong with this ...it should be a Saab :D

Looks similar in concept to the A5 Sportback (not saying if that's a good or a bad thing)...

How to build: Get an angel grinder, cut a Prius and a 5 series in half and proceed to weld the rear of the prius to the fronT end of the 5 series.
    Horrible, IMO.

It ain't pretty, but nothing is as bad as an X6. I kinda like that A5 4-door coupe though, and I haven't liked any Audis since the previous-generation A6. I just hope the A5 isn't as bad to drive as said A6.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,753 ✭✭✭qz

It has the nose of a 7 series, with the body of a 5 and rear of an X6?

Bangle designed this vastly nicer car too too, a car already serving the purpose of this new monstrosity!:

Didnt they know a 5 series GT is a 6 series, also already out there!?

As in copying the concept of the 4 door large executive saloon / coupe crossover ;)

Nice! The lines on the side towards the back are just right. I like the wheels too, something which doesn't happen very often :D

I kind of like the look of it, reckon it will grow on me.

However I can't help but think they're trying to sell to a market that doesn't exist...

Aye that A5 thingy look very well... Would be something to consider over the likes of the CLS.

@AudiChris, any ideas what it would be competing against?

Don't worry, when it's released the market will suddenly spring into existence.
I didn't realise so many people were mad for a 'Sports Activity Coupé' when the X6 was launched, but the thing still sells :pac:

Nothing - completely new and creates its own segment. Its essentially a 4 door A5 but will be cheaper!!

If BMW put their badge on the ford scorpio, people would love it.

    Bloody man-bags.....

Bangle must have been trying to screw his emlpoyer before he left designing that thing.

    Remember the good old days.........

Are BMW deperate or what with these crossover things?

Stick to what you do best, making good sport saloon cars.

Now that was a real BMW. Proper hardcore car with motorsport hertiage.

Looks like a one-series that's been blown up a bit in scale. Thing is, I like the one-series, oddly enough, it's interesting and I feel it's matured. I mean I'd by a 135i if I had the cash kicking around but I don't.

It works on a car that size... but not a big half-estate.

But BMW designs do seem to age well...
5 series has gotten better as it's gotten older, despite the bangle-butt
3 series is pretty good, especially since it's mid-life update.

Look back in 4 years and see

A bit too sleek(ish) methinks. And the rear... dear god!

(Actually it reminds me of the new 4 door Porsche)

They should ban the use of that 2nd pic in the OP. It makes the car look horrendous.

Hmm... I was thinking CLS market, but then i'd buy a CLS... Then E200 market, well it'd be the same price as the A6... Is there a market for a new market? Lol

BMW have become a victim of their own success.

They don't make drivers cars anymore - now they make cars for people who want to say - I drive a BMW.

    Pity. :(

BMW haven't gotten it right since launching the batmobile three years ago. This new version has a bottle nosed front and arsey back. Still I'm a big Beamer fan maybe in black things improve

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 497 ✭✭znv6i3h7kqf9ys

New Citroen C5 looks more like a Beamer than this. Rotten...

Foul. The Merc CLS/Passat CC are much better looking 4-door "coupe" efforts.

Friend of mine drives an A6 that needs replacing soon. Company had an A5 "spare" so he took that to try for a week. Gave it back the same day, he didnt fit in. He is 1.93 mtr.
But i do like the looks of that A5.
