noticed this in another thread but ...

whats the story with people who use the "this is 2009" as point a argument.

like a road is in bad condition "this road is in terribal condition, i can't believe that in 2009 (in a slighty raised pitch a volume ) that a road can be bad"

or people ringing into radio shows to make a complaint about joyriders, " its shocking that in 2009 that the guards can't put a stop to that"

thats as mad as saying that i am supprised its raining on a tuesday

it just part of the fooking date, it has nothing to do with whats going on anywere, ever. twats!

I remember the same thing at the start of the new millennium. "Come on this is the year 2000 for God's sake. Is a decent public transport system too much to ask for in the year 2000?"

People are just pissed because sci-fi promised that we would all have flying cars and robot slaves and day trips to Mars and what not by now, but instead we have the same ****e we had 10 years ago.

    And in 2009, ffs...

Aye but back then the year 2000 was a time to say those things! All those awesome inventions you seen in comics, sci-fi magazines and sci-fi shows as a kid were supposed to be here.

Was so looking forward to my hovering skateboard :( It's the year 2009, God damnit! Is a hovering skateboard to much to ask for?

    Yeah I know :(

I had this book and called "The future" or some crap. Anyway the only two things that came true in that were self driving cars and motorbikes with a roof, totally going to sue that author.

On a side note, 2009 in fiction...

It's because people are afraid of mispronouncing anachronism.
I'm not sure I'd like to try using that one while having a drunken rant either.
