Itzacon V shall be running some wargaming goodness over the weekend of March 6-8th.

    Warhammer 40K:
1,500 points, 5 game league, starting Saturday morning.

    Warhammer Fantasy:
2,000 points, 5 game league, starting Saturday morning.

There'll also be demo games of other systems like WarMachine, and plenty of space for friendlies. It'll be taking place in the college bar, right beside all the other activities (and nearer the deli counter:) ).

Full details of rules, army restrictions and whatnot can be found the wargames section of the Itzacon website, www.ItzaconEire.com

Hope to see some of you there,
    Sarky, Itzacon V director.

hey Sarky, thanks for the heads up I'm sure the mod will sticky this for you. Myself and probably 4 other lads from the Warheads should be coming this year but one question, why no allies??

To avoid tactics like Space Marines hiding behind a cheap Imperial Guard meatshield, I'd wager...

It'll speed up registration, less time spent looking through rules during the games, opponents will get no nasty surprises beyond your own devilish tactical genius... :)

    EDIT:

Daemonhunter/Witch-hunter armies and the like that SPECIFICALLY allow certain allies are still fine.

Yes but it also says specifically in those codexes that things like codex space marines may take allies from them. I just think it's an absolutely stupid rules stipulations. Why not disallow three vindicators? 9 Land Speeders? or whatever else the organiser thinks is cheesey.

Hello, that would be me (and man is it a long time since I've dusted off this account!)

Honestly, I've robbed the ruling from peer conventions warpcon and dominicon (although last years dominicon website is gone down, I'm pretty sure they had it too, anyway, warpcon definitely does so there is precedent in college organized conventions.) to make things that bit easier on myself as a novice tournament organiser, and provide a setting with a bit of familiarity both for attendees and myself.

Next year, if I am war-games officer again I will reconsider, but for now I'm afraid I'm sticking to my guns. If you'd like to shout at me a bit for being unfair to you, well you know where I'll be that weekend.;)

I'll keep an eye on this thread going forward so that I can deal with any thing else that comes up/anyone wants to go over personally.

I ran Dominicon Wargames for the past couple of years and we didn't have that rule sorry mate, Warpcon is the only one and they did it because it's the GW standard of things.

Conversation taken to pms rather than derail thread.

Warmaster is right, I "borrowed" that restriction straight from the GW GT's. Along with a good chunk of the admin stuff in the rules pack like yellow cards.

I did a bunch of chopping and changing as well.
I'll take full responsibility for the painting scoring which wasn't as smooth as I'd have liked.
The system for allocating points for winning is mine but since it's my tweak rather than my invention it seems to have worked pretty well.
Just proves the benefits of plagiarism ;)

I'd be flattered at people basing tournies off the Warpcon model if I hand't "borrowed" it from somewhere else previously :)

to keep on topic I kept the no allies rules to keep armies and lists under control. YMMV

Oh God, the painting.....it probably got the most complaints of the weekend as far as I could see.

The scoring system is fantastic though it worked very well with few glitches well done!!

I'd probably use something similar if you wouldn't mind me 'borrowing' it ;) if I was to run another big tournie.
