Who ordered the electronic voting machines

Does anyone here know who ordered the electronic voting machines.

50 million is the approximate amount 30,000 low paid Public Sector workers, those on under €30k a year will contribute with the new levy.

What consultants were used because you know our Gov love them.

Is there any connection or holiday offical function where Gov were wined and dined and lured in.

    What politicians trousered brown envelopes.

Why does our Gov decide something, hand over cash, and then wonder afterwards if it is viable.

Sorry don't mean to hijack other thread.

It's part of Skynet's plan to take over the world.

Surprised they haven't had an enquiry, with €20 / €30 million price tag to investigate it.

Lets burn money we don't have to find out who burned the money we did have.... gotta love this government.

nah half the time when politicians make these decisions they dont consult the civil service (aka what happened with the levy) as outlined here http://www.breakingnews.ie/ireland/mhsnididcwau/
Fine Gael is accusing the Minister for Education of ignoring his own experts on special education by implementing cutbacks.

The National Council for Special Education is tasked with advising the minister.

It has been confirmed that Batt O’Keeffe refused to wait for a report on special education provision from the NCSE that he had commissioned.

According to Brian Hayes of Fine Gael, it is crystal clear the minister made this decision for financial reasons.

He also said his claims it was done on an ‘educational basis’ are completely false.

There is no evidence that there was corruption at the time, electonic voting was in fashion internationally, and we stupidly ran along with it.

What everyone failed to realise is that even the safest e-voting machine will always be accused of being tampered with by the losing party, in order to undermine the winners, so even the safest e-voting machine is useless.

This is Ireland, of course there is some type of corruption involved.

It was the Minister for Bad Decisions - Dick Roche.

The minister in charge at the time was Martin Cullen, one of the most obnoxious toads to sit in the Dáil. He was fully backed up by Bertie "Man of da peepil" Ahern, who told us to "get rid of our ol' pencils".

    It was Martin Cullen

At the time it looked like some kind of race to run the worlds first all electronic general election, and he didn't even make it to the start line.

It was a good decision at the time. How else would we have got rid of €50 millions? That takes up a lot of room ye know, and storage costs money.

It was actually a good idea but like most good ideas in this country they made a balls of it. No-one thinks anything through or sees the bad side to their great ideas.

I've said this before, why didn't Cullen bring them off to be recycled in China. With what he spent travelling there, i'm sure he would have got a good deal on a few pieces of electronic rubbish.

Btw, the Goverment managed to screw up the storage of the non functioning machines as well,by signing for 25 year leases to store them, almost sounds like they knew they wouldn't work anyways.
