Brakes needed for trailer?

    Hi all,
    Looking for a double-axle 8 x 4 trailer at the moment - to be pulled by a 1.4L Petrol.
Not going to be carrying serious weight in it - it's just for sheets of IPB/Ply, lawnmowers, timber etc.

Do I need the trailer to have brakes? Or does it depend on what weight I'm hauling, and with what size car?

    Thanks for any advice

Depends on weight, i think the limit is 750kg without brakes. But I'm open to correction.
