i've been to see a few cars looking to buy with relatively low mileage.
each car of the four i've driven i've been told is a car owned by the garage and used for test drives.
one salesman told me that he was selling the car for an retired former employee.
is this all BS to hike up the price? the reason i ask is that the last car i went to look at had 21,000 miles on the clock.
should an 07 demo car have 21,000 miles on it? surely if the car was owned simply for test drives it wouldnt have so many miles on it?
i wouldnt do that much driving myself in two years.
    what do you think?

Sounds like a courtesy car to me. I've bought a demo model before and it only had 2k on it. They're usually only a few months old sold around march?april. Got a great deal on it

Normally demos are kept for 3-4 months, are used for test-drives and are taken home in the evening by the salespeople or garage management.

Some of our demos have very low mileage, and some get higher mileage due to regular use. The price should reflect the mileage.

I'd have no issue buying a demo, and one selling point I mention to people is that the car has never been driven by an "unknown" - either a garage employee is driving it, or a garage employee is accompanying whoever's driving it.

Depending on the car, in the current market, it's possible you'll have a car in stock for longer than the standard 3-4 months - we have one Q7 that's a year old and has 20k on it. It's not that there's anything wrong with it, it's a lovely bus, but demand for Q7s has softened recently. It's being driven by the sales director every day, and when we sell it, the new owner will get a reduced price due to the mileage.
