Ideal settings for a TV

Hello all, my Monitor ( a Samsung SM2032MW) and I was wondering if anyone could recommend some settings. I find it can't handle blacks too well (if there is a scene in a movie that is set in darkness then it is less visible).

Increasing brightness does little to solve this problem-I was wondering what settings Brightness, Contrast, Sharpness etc should be on for optimal viewing generally>

At the moment I have sharpness at 50 (or half the max) and contrast very high with brightness also at half.

I dunno how flexible settings are on monitors in comparison to TVs, you could try avforums.com for some specific recommendations, just do a search
