Possible job offer from parent company

My wife works for a multinational that was taken over a couple of years ago. It looks like the operation in Ireland is going to be scaled back or absorbed by the parent company with definite redundancies. She was approached and asked to attend an interview for a position within the parent company. The only thing I am concerned about is if she leaves her current position and takes up another with the parent company will she lose her service record? i.e she has been working for the child company for 3+ years now. I wouldn't like the situation where she is taken on by the parent company and then let go because of "the ecomonic climate" and not get any redundancy money...

Anyone ever in an similar situation??

    Thanks
    X

If she gets the job then you should ensure her contract states that her service is continuous, even if it's technically a different legal entity.
