I am registered to do exams at the end of April with the CPA. I have literally gone to nearly no classes at all. There are a couple of revision days coming up that I plan on attending. Do you think I am fighting a losing battle and have to much ground to cover in order to pass these exams? I will be getting three weeks off for study leave.

Stop talking and start working:D 3 weeks sounds like a mountain of time but you need to kick off the study now

    Good luck

I am working right now, 9 to 5! I have four modules Financial Accounting, Management Accounts, Taxation and Information Technology. I have virtually missed nearly all classes. Can I just sit down and work through these myself? Oh god, really starting to freak!

Yes you will have lots of time. Start looking through materials now you could even do well!

Maybe you could focus on one or two modules that you confident or covered in college. At least you will know not too make the same mistake again.

If I was you I would pick the management accounting and It modules. They would be the easier to pass without going to the courses, as I would view them as less detail and technically based.
And common sense & logic will play a larger part in passing them.

Question - Do you need to pass all four at the same sitting to clear the level?

Yeah you need to pass all four to advance onto the next level. Exams in April, repeats in August.

I know..............its sooooooo annoying but on the other hand it does makes you achieve your qualification faster. I hear about some ACCA students lingering on trying to get their exams for years. If I can just get through these I will defintely knuckle down for Prof 1.

Anyone else doing CPA formation 2 in April?

First thing you need to do is calm down. Seriously. I know that is easier said than done but relax about it.

You have most of February, the whole of March and most of April including three weeks study leave. Thats loads of time to study.

The missed lectures are a sunk cost..nothing you can do...forget about it (a lot of people dont find lectures much use anyway). You need to just realise you do have enough time, get the head down, make use of the weekends while you are working and have a bit of confidence in your ability to do it. You will get nowhere by panicking and it will just hurt you in the end.

Yeah your right.................thanks for the sound advice. I have all day revision class tomorrow for Financial Accouting from 9 to 5 so I'm going to take it from there.

I know the feeling. I've got Prof 1 Auditing and Law in April and i havent a stroke done either. Decided to go the BPP Home Study route as i find it very hard to take stuff in in lectures, but i havent even opened a book yet. Motivation has always been my problem. But its make or break this year so if i cant motivate myself now then i don't know what i'll do! Any tips on how to motivate yourself to open a book once you get home from work??
