    Hi

I have got a rash for last 5 months that comes and goes on different parts of my body and sometimes very itchy.

Went two diff doctors but still not gone.

Can anyone recommend a good dermatologist in Dublin area or is there any good skin clinics?

    Really appreciate any advice.

    Thanks in advance

oh you poor thing, hope its not too bad! Gillian Murphy is one of the best Dermatologists and is based in Beaumont Hospital. lm sure she has a private clinic somewhere as well, so maybe google her and see. if goin public you'll need a GP referral letter.

    Best of luck!!

There are many dermatologists and many private clinics - but you should see your GP first and be referred. I note you said you saw two different doctors - this can be a problem in itself - the first doctor saw you and if the treatment didn't work, going back to the same doctor would allow him/her to change treatment to find one that worked. By switching doctors, the second doesn't know what the first one tried out.

Can you not ask for your files to be transferred?

I must emphasise I do not know this doctor at all and I have no axe to grind. I have no reason to suspect she is anything but competent at her job but, from the Beacon Dermatology website

"Dr. Jane Mulrooney specializes in cosmetic dermatology. She graduated in medicine from NUI Galway in 2001. Having gained invaluable experience working in general medicine for several years she then completed a Masters in Clinical Dermatology at the esteemed St John’s Institute In London."

Someone who qualified in 2001 would have become a fully registered doctor in July 2002. This means she has less than seven years experience post registration. When you then consider she worked for "several years" in general medicine, then she has very little experience in dermatology. Someone this experienced would never get a job as a consultant in a public hospital. I note on the website she is not referred to as a consultant and is presumably in some sort of junior capacity. Is this made clear I wonder when you book an appointment?

Just checked the medical council register and shes on the general register not the specialist register. May be an over sight but would indicate she's not a specialist dermatologist.

Best place to get advice TBH is from your GP
