Is it true that if you purchase something in Northern Ireland from the ROI using a VAT number, VAT is never charged to the Item? Something to do intercountry purchases? can anyone confirm this with some legal text online?

What are you purchasing Goods or Services?
Goods can be shipped VAT Free but Services have to be charged at relevant VAT Rate which can be claimed back from, in your case, Inland Revenue
