Anybody ever used ebay auction to try sell their car? Thinking of giving it a go myself...

A waste of time in Ireland, tried it a few times and all you get bidding are muppets with no money.

I'd say stick a decent reserve on it or otherwise someone might get it for €5 or something. If your having problems selling your car on the likes of autotrader and carzone the chances are the ebay route will bring in much less of a price.

You will likely get lots of scam emails, be wise to these.

Iv had it on carzone and autotrader before and and all i got was scam emails and timewasters with no money, and it was by far the cheapest on them so just thought id give this a go...

I think Adverts is great, but the car section is prolly limited to models with low values (under EUR5k) in reality.

I'd stay away from selling your car on ebay, I've heard stories of people buying the car then driving it home and not liking the way it drives and getting a refund via paypal. They have more ways to scam you compared to a standard cash, contract and handshake agreement e.gif

    Is it that bad?

@ fuzagied - not a lot of people will purchase a car with paypal, most sellers seem to prefer cash or bankers draft.

Yeah as green-blood says, selling a car on eBay is little more than an Advert, like Carzone. I doubt anyone was stupid enough to use (either send or receive) PayPal for car sales, the costs involved would be horrendous, worse than buying a car on a credit card.

If selling on e-bay, you could use the 'Buy it now' feature. Just set it at a price you are happy with.
