    Evening all,

I've a 04 MKIV Golf and the door open warning light remains on. traced this back to the boot. I open and close the boot and the warning light goes off. after a few minutes it comes back on, then it might go off again. Anyone have any experience with this??

    Cheers and thanks in advance

It's probably a faulty boot light switch which is part of the boot lock, afaik.

I'd say the problem is due to a leaking rear window wiper hose connection and the water goes down on the sensor and it then thinks the boot is open. Best way to test this is to spray the rear wiper a couple of times and then open the boot, check the lining of the plastic covering on the bottom of the boot to see if there's water dripping down, I'd say that's your problem.

You may find the hose that feeds the rear wiper has burst, this usually happens at the passenger side C pillar where it freezes and bursts. You will need to get the trim off to have a look, not hard as most of it is just clipped in.

It is vital to keep loads of antifreeze in your washer water in winter to prevent this.
