Judges paid to give harsher sentences to juvenile defenders

I'll only quote some of the article, as its quite long.

    http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/29142654/
WILKES-BARRE, Pa. - For years, the juvenile court system in Wilkes-Barre operated like a conveyor belt: Youngsters were brought before judges without a lawyer, given hearings that lasted only a minute or two, and then sent off to juvenile prison for months for minor offenses.

The explanation, prosecutors say, was corruption on the bench.

In one of the most shocking cases of courtroom graft on record, two Pennsylvania judges have been charged with taking millions of dollars in kickbacks to send teenagers to two privately run youth detention centers.
This is why private jails need to either not exist or be closely monitored.

They sent hundreds of defendants to juvinile hall for far longer periods of time then they deserved - one girl made a website mocking her assistant principal, and got three months - , and cost the taxpayer hundreds of thousands.

The funny thing is that various loudmouths had claimed in the past that the judges were too easy on people.

You know that jail in ''Sleepers''? If that's still open we should send them all there.

This doesnt suprise me. Put a man in a position of power and he will have corrupted it within a day. Absolute power corrupts absolutely.

Kids probably deserved it, all kids are up to something.

I think we all learned a valuable lesson from that film, if Kevin Bacon wants a blow job, Kevin Bacon gets a blow-job.
