How much are they? is it only the butchers counter?

Their chicken has gone really expensive lately.

I have always found the chicken in tesco expensive, even when on special offer, I think I have always been able to find a butchers with cheaper prices which aren't on special.

Actually the butchers in Charelstown shopping centre is fantastic value and you can get 4 large stuffed chicken breasts on the bone for 6 euro (there are around 6 different varieties) or 3 large marinated duck breasts for 9.99 which are excellent value. they also have good value on marinated pork chops. You can also get 10 decent sized plain chicken breasts for a €10

Tesco H/L Chicken Breast Fillets 680g
HALF PRICE Was 13.99 Now 6.99
    €6.99 (€10.28/kg )
They are individually wrapped and in a bag. I find them of good quality and would never buy loose fillets from a butchers counter as unless you pay a good bit you get water laden tasteless stuff.

That's a good butchers, we always get those 10 packs. Free lollies for the kids as well (and us big kids).

I hope butchers don't go the way of grocery stores, pushed out by Tescos and Spars...

Is there much difference in the quality of tesco's fillet steak and the steak from the butchers?

Have to say I have never found Tesco meat to be great, Chicken suitable for curry or indian dishes, steak for stewing. They dont hang it for long enough whoever the supplier is, go to a butcher for meat that has been hung for two weeks before sale. Ok it might be dearer but Quality, Quality, Quality

Went to look up the fillet steaks. All i found on the shelf that said fillet steak was Sirloin and other stuff.
Ended up buying Minute-steaks again. And a bottle of Hardy's Cabernet Sauvignon.
25% off on the Wine and Champagne until tomo.

Picked up 1 kg of sirloin for €7 today on Tesco's reduced meats shelf - the ironic thing been that the sirloin that has reached its sell by date is actually the tastiest they have.

could aim for 200-300g of meat for one person (between 7-10 ounce)
restaurant serve 12oz and 16oz steaks too - which would bring it up to 450gram.

If you really love your men then get them 500g each !!! :) and get a nice garlic sauce too (mandatory for fillet steak)

assuming there was short supply again today

no point in having an offer like this imo if only a handful of people can avail of it

apart from the fact that it will bring people into the shop and they are likely to buy something else.

if they already have in mind that they are going to buy beef they will possibly go for a different cut of beef.
