New Sony Tvs in March

Over on directtvs.co.uk they have some new Sony Tvs available in March apparantly.

This claims there'll be a 37w5500?? I wonder does this mean theyve started making 37" S-PVA panels?? I doubt Sony would put an AUO panel in a w series

the prices dont seem to be that bad at all compared to when the 40w4000 came out

Interesting technical specs on them to be fair. Especially with regard to contrast ratio's. Good news for us is that for this year, the V series, as well as the W series has an mpeg4 terrestrial tuner. The S series still doesn't, though, so that should be anyone not wanting to buy a separate stb for DTT.

Sorry to bring up an old thread ... but ... was trying to find an answer.

Looking at the Sony Bravia KDL 32V5500E at pixmania.com ... Going for 599.

Saw Powercity have a V5500 going for about 730 ... but it's a 32V5500U.

So (out of my ignorance) what is the difference between an LCD designated with an E and one designated with a U?

E=Europe, U=UK, but I don't know what effect this has on digital reception, DTT/MPEG4 etc confuse me, but hope I've steered you in the right direction...

Last year models anyway, regardless of U or E, had exactly the same technical specs

So, for example, a 40W4000E and a40W4000U both had an mpeg4 tuner, despite the fact the mpeg4 tuner was useless in the UK. Not sure if its the case in the 2009 models though!
