regular pill as emergency contraceptive?

ok, no ones got to tell me i'm dumb, because i totally know, but i had unprotected sex last night (and twice this morning... hooray for stupidity) and i will probably have to go to my doctor to get the morning after pill (you still need a prescription in this country, right?), but i just wanted to check first...

i've heard of people talking about taking 2 or more regular contraceptive pills as an alternative to the morning after pill as they contain the same stuff just in smaller doses. has anyone got any experience with this? or have any links with further information (googling this subject doesn't seem to give very helpful results)? if this would work the same i would prefer to do it, because i have an unused packet of Logynon here (i stopped taking the pill last summer and still have a packet left) and if i could save myself the expense of going to the doctor and buying the pills it would be great (its a lot of money).

my ideal solution for this would be to have a copper IUD fitted, but my doctor doesn't do this procedure and offered to write me a letter for the Well Woman Center, but with the weekend on the way its unlikely all of this would get sorted within the timeframe needed. and it will also cost a bomb or two..

Go to the doctor and get the morning after pill. Yes it will cost money, but its cheaper than a baby.

    Just get the proper prescription.

I'm closing this as the only good advice you're going to get is "go to your doctor". The quicker the better and good luck with it.

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.
