    Hi there,
Can anyone recommend a little app that will allow me to have a little map on my desktop like in the attached image here and if you click it, it will expand to its own window and you can keep little itineraries and details of each one, so for example, I could make an itinerary of Tullamore to Galway and save it on the map, then every time I open the map, I see this start and end point as one trip and can add and delete trips as I go along so after a while, I could have say 20 trips on the map all to and from various locations and I can delete and add them as I please and see details of each trip if I click on the points. Would be really useful for me and if it could update itself every so often with new google maps or whatever that would be great too :)

    Any feedback would be appreciated!

I suppose the desktop thingy isn't really necessary, just a map that I can save all locations on without needing to be connected to the net to view and add locations etc. Desktop thingy would be nice though

Can you do it with Google Earth? :o

Didn't even think of that. If you can save infinite locations and waypoints etc on that, then it would probably do the job fine!

http://maps.live.com has photo views of Dublin. Apart from that it's similar to Google Earth

Sorry, meant to add that if you're using Vista you can get several gadgets that sit in your sidebar that provide instant links to maps. There are probably similar applications for other OSs but I don't know them off the top of my head.

Yeah the vista type sidebar thingies is what I'd be after, but for XP pro if possible? It doesn't have to be google maps at all, just as long as I can view and point to locations in Ire/UK and save information about an unlimited amount of trips. If possible :)

I think this site has what you're looking for.

Downloaded google earth but it seems you need a net connection for the maps to load :(

If there was some kind of GPS map system that just displayed basic maps with road names etc and I could save waypoints and routes it would be great.

I had a look at that vista sidebar app, but I think it would interfere with my texting program cabbage and my rainlendar calendar :(

Thanks for the the help so far everyone!

I think mappoint does this. It isn't free though and I'm not too sure if Irish coverage is all that good.
