    hello all

hope this is the correct forum for this.. apologies if its not..

My passport expired a few weeks ago, and now my boss wants me to fly to the UK next week, i have applied for a new passport using passport express last week (Friday i think) and hopefully it will arrive on Friday or Monday/ Tuesday cos he wants me on a plane by Wednesday...

if i dont have it by the time im heading out, is my driving license ok? cos you dont need a passport to drive over the border? so will i be snookered?

    thanks for reading ;-)

If you're checking in online with Ryanair, definitely yes.

In theory you only need valid ID for the airline you're travelling with (driver's licence for example), but in practice, using your passport makes life much much easier.

There's always some smart-ass ground handler who'll argue the toss with you.

thats what im worried about.. cos i have heard of staff refusing to let people on without a passport when the person right beside them is allowed on with a driving license... hmm.. fingers crossed my passport will arrive soon :)

    cheers

Your passport most likely will arrive before Wednesday. They advise a turnaround time of 10 days, but in my experience, when you renew your passport in the off-peak season, it's much quicker.
