    Hi guys,
Hope you can give me a hand here or some personal experience. Looking to sort out a sun holiday for a week or maybe lil longer between mid June - end August, kinda have our minds set on greece, but not sure where?

We are looking for something that we can defo laze about for a day or two when we choose to but would be more interested in doing some historic sight seeing, bike riding, water sports (Kayaking, Wind-Surfing etc) etc.

Anyone have any idea where to start looking (websites) or even area, athens vs crete vs x etc? Not looking for a cheap package deal............. I don't want much do I :p

Any help of guidence or recommendations would be appreciated.

    Rattle

    Hi Rattlehead

I done something similar a few years back. We went to Zakynthos on a budget travel thing and just arranged before we went over to do loads of scuba diving with the PADI centre over there.
They were great, we went diving most days of the two weeks and my fiance who was with me had never dived before took the open water course. It was great becuase we became friendly with the staff there and so had a few nights out with them
We also rented a car for a couple of days and drove around. It is a fantastic island really pretty and there are lots of boat tours. Also its the home of Giant turtles during the summer and if you are lucky you're able to see them if you do a bit of snorkleing.
We went on to the PADI site and saw all the places with centres and picked the destination based on that. If you have another type of sport in mind I'm sure there are websites to help you do the same...find a centre to pick your destination.

Crete is just amazing IMO. I've gone there flight only a few times now and have travelled round finding lovely apartments/hotels as we went (for around €30-60 per night for a double :)). Plakias on the South coast is a lovely spot, not over-developed, beautiful beaches, mountains around etc. etc. Loads of things to do in Crete as well, trek the Samaria Gorge, visit Knossos, visit the old towns of Chania and Rethymnon or just enjoy the sea! I find it the most wonderful relaxing place and cheap as anything as well!

What about Cyprus? We are going there this summer, to Paphos. It's got a lot of water sports, some nice ruins and they drive on the same side of the road as us!
