been offered a late deal to soll for around the 300 mark (flights/acc)
i know the place is pretty crap overall - are there any good runs around tho?
not interested in jumping on a bus everyday to another resort "around the corner" either

I dont think Soll is crap. Big ski area, good lively nightlife, short transfer times and good accomm.

Why dont you look at the ski welt map on line to check out the number of runs.

You dont have to jump on a bus to get to Scheffau, Ellmau and going. You might have to with Westie though. There is a new gondola apparently going from Brixen to Westie but again check out the map.

I think €300 is a good price for a week in Soll.

We're considering Soll ourselves for March. Are there lifts right out of the village? Is Soll the best (as far as apres ski goes) village to stay in the Ski Welt?

Soll not a dump at all, the village is quite small but the ski area is huge. Where did you get that price, it sounds really good to me.
The lift is a short distance outside of the village, probably about 5 mins walk. There's also a free bus.

Just back from a week in Austria. We were in St Johann but only skied there one day. Personally if I was going back I would stay in Kirchberg or Scheffau as they are ideally located to bounce between the other resorts.

We went to Scheffau one day and from there we skied to Soll, Brixen & Going. Also, there is a new gondolla that brings you up in to Westie form the Brixen. We just didn't spot it until we were in the gondolla back up to Brixen. We thought you had to get a bus, but the gondolla was to the rear of the one we got.

There's a huge variety of runs and terrain on the Ski Welt. Food and drink is very reasonable and the locals are very friendly. Much better value than France.

I've been to Soll 3 times and love it. There are around 280km of ski runs in the area and it's very good value. I was there for New Years and had a ball. The slopes and general conditions were fab. The slopes were very well groomed, much better than Saalbach & Zell Am See. They offer night skiing and regroom the lit slopes before they reopen the lifts. Great tobogan run. The apres ski was good and the restaurants were great value.
There are a good mix of Reds & Blues with not too many blacks. The great thing about Soll is that you can travel all day without getting buses.

Soll is brilliant - the SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser area is huge and enough to keep any skier happy for the week.

True the walk up to the Gondola can be a tad bit long, especially after a few the night before but that’s what the ski bus \ taxis are for.

Would recommend it to anyone especially families.

i went to soll for the weekend and im only just back and have to say i found it great. im beginner to intermediate and so is my girlfriend and the two of us really enjoyed it spent most of the weekend on the red runs!

there is a gondola that brings you up in to like a valley in the middle of the mountains and the is loads of runs and lifts in the valley and some nice ones that bring you all the way back down to the bottom of the mountains.

You picked a nice weekend to go - I was getting a taxi to the airport last Saturday morning, beautiful overnight dump of snow, first one there'd been all week, really didnt want to leave.
For the week we were there, it was quite icy at times, until it was cut up a bit later in the day - then you have to deal with all the mohills.

Have to agree on the standard of runs - some good runs to build up for low intermediates, however, 2 of our group were complete beginners, and the blue runs are difficult enough for that stage.

Apartment we stayed in was great, only downside being that it was a little out of town. We were a 12 min walk from the lifts, but having the garage there to store your skis really made up for that, not lugging gear is a great bonus.

Finally - if anyone likes animals, I would advise the husky day, every Tuesday & Friday afternoon. You get a ride in a husky sled !!!
Needs to be booked in advance, so contact the tourist info office for details or see:
