Shipping charges from China to Ireland

    I am looking to buy in a few small household items from China but i am getting crazy shipping costs of $600 from the company. Does anyone know of any cheap shipping solution from China to Ireland

    Also keep in mind tax and VAT when you calculate how cheap it will be to buy it there.

    It depends on big your 'small' items are. I have found EMS are
    extremely fast and reliable:

    They have an excellent on-line tracking service. Local delivery
    is by An Post. The last EMS package I received (Jan 09) took
    four days to get from China to Cork and the charges were only
    a few quid. Not much more expensive than a similar size/weight
    parcel from within Ireland. This package was only 1kG.

    How much are we talking about say for instance a package the size of a show box 1kg?
