Well thanks to my laziness of *I'll do it tomorrow* I cannot get a usit visa because they're all gone. I've made arrangements with a friend who has his to go Canada for the year and basically work etc.
I was enquiring about the one year work permit. It says you must have a job interview set up?
Any way of getting around this until I land or is it absolutly required? I have made a Resume and what i've gathered from the net, it seems acceptable. chances of an employer contacting an irish person though?
The visa application seems a very confusing process :(

You mean there is another way of getting to Canada quick other than USIT? I was of the opinion that the options were:
    • USIT U35 Visa
    • Skilled Worker Visa (takes forever)
    • Sponsorship (also takes forever and alot of red tape)
What way are you sorting this out now then? I know about the USIT Visa, its seemed to have filled up super-quick, there was a waiting list, then it was closed......all in like 2 months. Does that say anything about the amount of people tryin to get out of here?

The problem with Canada, unlike NZ or even Auz is that there is so much red tape to get through. Other than the USIT Visa there really isn't any other way of getting over there quickly.......other than for a holiday.

So, whats your situation now that you have missed the boat?

situation is my friend is going solo by the looks of it. he knows someone from the net over there so maybe she'll keep em company i guess. still sucks balls big time. I was gonna apply until it asked for the passport number (waiting list app) and decided to wait till the next day after work. It was closed
looks like i've no choices at all really

It might open again. I was at the presentation that Usit had and they said they were expecting a good deal of more places. There is no guarantee for you that it will open again, or for me who is on waiting list, but keep an eye out in case.

Maybe you should head over with your bud for a month and see what it is like.

Worse case scenario, apply for next one in December and head over March 2010! Sounds so far away!

A friend also said to me that there *may* be places so i've been watchin daily just in case cos if they open more I plan to be on that list!!!
I'll have to suss it out. As you said i could go on a holiday visa for now or when we head over
