How big do poker DB's get?

Hi all... A quick question for you guys who put in thousands of hands every month: how big do your poker DB's end up? (i.e. how many GB's storage space on your hard drive?) And do you 'purge' them every so often, either partially or fully, and start anew?

Also, would I be right in assuming that the most intensive poker task as regards PC processing power is doing a large-scale import of hands into HEM/PT?

How do they get that big? I just thought they were little text files?

Think about how much data HM reads in every single hand and then multiply that by a few million and you get an idea of why it takes up a lot of space.

I keep thinking my db is around 14 gigs but can't seem to find out for definite

Cheers lads. So ~30GB is around normal?

The reason I'm asking is that I'm upgrading my main rig to an X58 system shortly, and want to have a second (light-weight and portable) PC purely for poker and nothing else (hell, I won't even install any browser). I just wasn't sure if DB's could potentially go into the 100's of Gigs.

I'm guessing if anyone has a DB of over 10gigs they are mostly mined/purchased hands.

    Cheaters!
