re Satelitte Dish

Ok folks, I will try to cut a long story short. I need advise here. I bought my own place in Applewood, Swords. One of the first letters I got was the good old enforcement people telling me to take down the dish and put it whereever. I have resisted for a while as sky have informed I would not get a reception out the back. In January after another warning (God knows why. I ain't threatened anything and the neighbour next door has it) I got a neighbours friend to put it out the on the fence. At first I could get all channels except CNN and Euronews but when the wind came every so often signal would be lost. He came on Sunday to fasten it to the fence but now signal is not great and many channels like the sports and news channels have no signal whatsoever. Sky advised they will have to put it out front again. What can I do? Should I say to the council to get lost as this is the only place I can get reception or where would anyone get a pole where you can stick a satelitte dish on for better signal and is it worth it? If it means fighting the council I don't mind as this is causing me severe inconvenience. Thanks for any advise. It is appreciated.

It is usually possible to mount the dish on 'T&K' brackets and a sturdy pole so it overlooks the pitched roof at the back of the house. Or a pole buried in concrete in the back garden. Fences are usually too wobbly! Call an independent satellite specialist to assess your situation.

ok your issue is quite simple
to put a dish on the front of your house u need planning permission-someone has reported u i imagine.Just apply asap and then get sky to put it back
    should be no problem

Permission will not be granted for a dish on the front elevation.

Ask your neighbour what the craic is with his dish? Can it be hidden in the balcony if you have one?

You Can't fight it. Satellite dishes are not allowed on the front of houses.
Any reputable satellite installer will be able to supply and fit T&K brackets.

Allowed or not - you see them on the front of houses quite a bit.

I don't know about Ireland, but in England, something similar was brought up in a court case against a local council, and the court found in favour of the guy putting up the dish. The reasoning being, that by not allowing him put a dish, where he could get reception, they were denying him his right to free access of information.

Might be worth mentioning that in a letter to the council, if they try and get you to take it down again.

According to the Citizens Information website, you need planning permission for a satellite at the front of your building....
