    Wont it just mean they go to paper which cause a lot of pollution in thier transport?

    Although I do think that such laws make people think about thier use of plastic.

    It makes them think more about spending more unecessary cash, particularly now. You only have to look at the amount of people using reusable bags and cardboard boxes at Lidl & Tesco.

    don't think so, like here they will probably move to re-useable shopping bags.... paper bags haven't caught on at all over here...

    Agreed, the rain on paper bags doesn't help also :)

    I think this is great news lets hope England follows suit next as the amount of shopping bags used by people is insane....reusable all the way!

    It really irks me when I'm in England when I buy something as small as a bottle of water (I know that's not too green either but sometimes there's no option!) and the cashier automatically reaches for a plastic bag.

    It's a crazy waste. And a crazy waste of money by retailers.
