    Hey Guys,

I've been told I need an Import License in order to register for a certain freight company. How would I go about getting one of these? Where can I find out more information.

    Cheers.

Cheers for the reply. Just importing some bags from asia, I have done it before with no need for an import license and plenty of other stuff. But the manufacturer said that I would be able to ship the items by sea and save money if I got an import license and opened an account with some freight company (can't remember name, have it in an email).

I might not need it at all, but just wanted to find out so I can get everything sorted as soon as possible.

He's talking rubbish.........i've importede from asia without an licence and no hassles. You can use the likes of MSC for your import shipping by container.

Yeah well I have got stuff off this lad before so he's just giving me his advice on the cheapest way of getting the goods transported. Have you any suggestions for the cheapest way of transporting them?

    Hello IrishIrish,

Not sure if this is still relevant, but here goes.

If your supplier suggests that you require an import license, the best way to verify this is to ask him for the HS / Customs Tariff number. Once you have the customs tariff number, let me know and I will check it out for you. For clothing for instance the requirement for import licenses has been suspended. It may still be in force for other products from China.

In terms of shipping, there are a great variety of options and rates from the Far East to Europe are bargain basement at the moment. Depending on the quantity involved (would you be able to get the nr of pieces/cartons, weight and dimensions ?) I can help you figure out what the best / most economical method of shipping would be.

Let me know if I you need any help, happy to assist, am in the freight business for the last 30 years ......

Cheers for that. I will try get the info and get back to you. I had put it all on hold because it didn't really turn out feasible with the prices I had been looking at.

It will probably be next week before I am able to get back to you.
