I was in galway at uni from sep 07-august 08 which was funded by a grant.

Moved back home start of September 08...been constantly applying for jobs am at a loss... need income have had no money these past few months...really do not want the hassle of signing on but feel I have no other choice.

My question is can I claim JA? My parents are self employed. Will they be taken into account? I am over 25 and heard they won't. Please help? I really want to know my entitlements. Thanks so much

Yeah u should be entitled to JA if u r over 25. Go to ur local SWO and fill out a form. An inspector will have to visit your house as JA is means tested.
But there should be no problem once ur not living with a partner or have a huge stash of savings. Itll take a while to come through but u can apply for this to be backdated. Its v staightforward once u turn 25. makes things alot easier
