Upgrading from SKY+ to SKYHD and existing sky+ recordings

I am seriously thinking of upgrading my sky+ ( in front room) to HD as I recently purchased a humax hd receiver (in kitchen) and am very impressed with BBC HD and ITV football in HD.

However I have a lot of unwatched recorded content on my sky+ box. (I replaced the hard disk in sky+ box to get extra recording space and this is now almost full.)

If I upgrade to skyHD box would I be able to dis-connect the skyHD box and re-connect old sky+ box from time to time to view my recorded items. Or will I loose them as the sky+ box will cease to work with the sky card after upgrading to skyhd?

Could anyone confirm what happens to content on existing sky+ box please? Thanks

The box needs to be in subscription for the programs recorded to play so the simple answer is...no...U probably wont get installed for a while so you do have time to watch some of it

Alternatively you could take advantage of the mirror sub if it's still on the 7.50 special offer and then you could watch away on whatever is in your old sky plus box.

If you swap back your old sky+ and insert the card to watch old recordings you can watch some programmes. If the recording is of premium channels like sports and movies then no you can't but all others you can.

I am nearly certain that Sky plus functionality will not work without the card being paired to the box.

Sky told me that if i needed to access old stuff from the old box to call them in advance and they would pair the old box back on a temporary basis in order for me to view or put onto DVD recorder the stuff i wanted from the old box.

Once i did that i would have to call Sky back to pair back the card to the new HD box.

In my case i took out a new multiroom sub and once the new card was activated i was able to get up all those old recordings once again.
