I board so I don't know anything about skis... All I want to point out to you is that it costs about €30 each way to carry your skis on the plane.

I'v never had to pay for ski/ boot carridge when booking a package deal. I even got my skis all the way to New Zealand and back for free, well apart from €25 one way charge from BMI to get them to London.

I think Salomon is one of the most well known brands for ski equipment.

I think they are the same model as mine, except I've forgotten the exact name of them now, they look almost identical.

They look almost identical to the ones my husband bought years ago and has been skiing in ever since. He sulks like a child if he has to hire.

Most hire shops stock good brands for easy skiing and comfort.

Mind you, a friend of mine who was going skiing for three weeks, went out, bought new skis, skied for three weeks and then sold them back to the shop. Worked out much cheaper than hiring.

I've just post a pair of boots for sale, size 7.5

    http://www.adverts.ie/showproduct.php?product=95127&cat=52

They are high spec boots which means they have more comfort features than cheaper boots. These features including adjusting the boot to suit you foot such as canting (can adjust the cuff for bow or knocked knees) and buckle micro adjustment. When it comes to skiing one thing you should make sure are right are your boots as you can be in them for 8+ hours a day for 6 days + so fit and comfort are important, also bad boots make for bad skiing, most important piece of kit to get right.

Crystal will charge you extra for carrige of skis. I cant imagine that the others wont too? Maybe in the past they were free but you probably have to pay now.

Do your research - if you dont already know that Salomon are a good ski brand then maybe spend some time looking in to it.

It seems a bit much to be buying your own kit after only 2 weeks of skiing. I would not buy anything off the internet I had not fully tried out beforehand. It took about an hour for me to find the right boots for me in the shop and Salomon were the worst fit for my foot shape. So dont buy anything you have not already tried out.

If you are set on it though then I would wait and get into resort where you can try before you buy and get what is right for your own style.
