I have a painted concrete floor that requires constant maintenance. Is there any liquid or semi liquid aggergate that would be easy to apply and hard wearing. The lay out of the area means it is not really suitable to tiles or a lino type solution.

There is a special flooring used in food preparation areas and factories, its like a plastic screed but it is water and heat resistance (and usually a horrible red or blue colour). It is also non-slip and can be graded to a slope to direct water to gullies.

    Very expensive though.

Yes, there is whats called an epoxy resin type floor covering used in industrial applications. As Slig said its a self levelling screed type of application but the colours used can be creams, grays etc as well. I have rates but they'd be misleading as they're for commercial and really large areas. I'd head to your local Paint suppliers and enquire along those lines, if you have no luck then come back to me and I can send you details of an industrial installer who might point you in the right direction for small scale domestic jobs.

OP, if you get some quotes for a domestic installation can you let us know ?

I'd be interested in it myself, as we have rooms with this epoxy in work & its a nice job. I thought it would be a good robust finish for a utility room if it wasn't too expensive :)

Try these guys I used a black non slip for the entrance & hall as all the walls are white. Did it before Xmas. Smells till dry but VERY good & comes in colors.:)

I saw an ad for a system that sprayed on and gave a similar finish.

If the guys can really do that type of finish for 6 euros/m, they are going to be very popular. I have a client who would be interested too!

I happened to come across this during the week. These guys do some interesting floor products, and the price is reasonable. I don't have any experience with these products myself, other than trying to help a client get theirs cleaned or restored. It is worth looking around on the Internet for more details (there is a lot of difference in finish between the different types of epoxy floors)
