    http://www.irishtimes.com/newspaper/ireland/2009/0211/1233867931679.html

    A - I don't know if this is reported right but wouldn't this be a case of one persons word against the other as there have been no witnesses reported to have seen the incident?
    B - Or, the defendant readily admitted on the spot to the complaint?

    The first line says no garda witness evident so is this a case of simply A or B OR A+B? ;):)

    If it is good reporting, it seems pretty disturbing one could be convicted on a another persons word just like that!

    A lot of convictions in the District Court are one person's word against another, mostly a Garda against the Defendant. It is for the judge to decide who to believe, in the event of a conflict of evidence, and convict if satisfied beyond reasonable doubt.

    Perhaps it was the line "F*** you judge"* that sealed it. :D

    * Not actually said.

    Brilliant, if this only happened more often.

    A man in a jeep reversed onto a main road, speed limit was 80Kmph, I had to avoid him by going onto the other side of the road, if there was any oncomming traffic I would have hit something. I beeped my horn, he then sped towards me flashing me, he then he was extremely close to my car, I had my young brother in the back and my friend in the passanger side. I reported him for dangerous driving. The guard said he would warn him for it.

    How do you get to this phas, the court phase? If no damage was done, no words were exchanged, how do I get someone to court for driving like a lunatic?

    Can I request how the report goes? From the guard that is? How do I know if something will be done about it?
